    I have a 1954 Mercury that is missing the patent plate. Does anyone know a way to track down the code that I would normally be able to find on the plate?

    I think the only info on data was body style color code for top and bottom and a serial number

    Plus interior trim and date scheduled to come off the assembly line. Just would like to know and to verify the original trim. Fortunately the serial number at least tells me where it was manufactured. Ford kept records, but many were lost in a fire.
