tjcParticipantare you talking about the oil filler tube that comes out of the valley cover or the blow by tube under the engine?
tjcParticipantI think the only info on data was body style color code for top and bottom and a serial number
tjcParticipantAre you using the OEM soft gas line that screws into the fuel pump?
tjcParticipantI looked up the part number on Classic Tube web site, and in the online book it reads for 54 Merc. When you type in their part number it comes up as a fuel line for a 51 Merc. Does the actual part look correct?
tjcParticipantAre you using a pre-bent line or are you starting with a straight piece?
tjcParticipantSorry I have had several 54 Merc’s and can’t remember one with a windshield washer.
tjcParticipantI think I bought mine from Dennis Carpenter
tjcParticipantI have owned my Mercury for almost 50 years, and there was some kind of insulation on the under side of my hood. The insulation was pretty much falling off, but I remember a pad with what looked like fiberglass insulation hanging from my hood when I found it in a barn in Wisconsin.

tjcParticipantI think if you have a newly rebuilt Y-block engine and it was cleaned out properly before the rebuild you should be fine. If you are running an original engine you should keep an eye on the oiling system.
tjcParticipantThanks for you response Virgil, but you need to ask Mac’s for their latest catalog, They don’t use the B5 11572A numbers anymore.
