January 22, 2015 at 8:35 pm in reply to: 63 Mercury Monterey 390 FE Engine Question about Lifters #4051
Archie & Julie Ann DunhamParticipantThanks for the info Virgil, Someone else commented to me about the ticking and spoke that it would go away once I changed the Oil & Filter, used an additive of some sort and drove the car a while so the oil would & could lubricate the lifters & then thus quiet down!! I just wanted another Opinion on the issue to make sure there was a consensus, Based on your recommendation I “WILL” get the Rislone Oil Treatment, Change Oil & Filter with a “Thinner” Oil, and drive the car so that it starts to work out the ticking! Thanks again, I really appreciate it very Much!!! You have helped me a Lot!!! Archie Dunham 🙂

November 14, 2010 at 2:39 pm in reply to: 1953 Mercury through 1958 Mercury Power Brake Part needed??? #2622
Archie & Julie Ann DunhamParticipantVirgil, Thanks for the feedback, I guess I didnt realize you could just go to the hardware or parts store and find this kind of stuff that would fit a vintage car like mine? I appreciate your info, I hope the parts are easy to find, it will sure make the job a lot easier! Thanks again!
Archie & Julie Ann DunhamParticipantAris, I have a 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria with a 312 V8 that has the same exact thing happening, It used to have the old tea pot carb and intake and I never had the problem BUT as soon as I upgraded to a 1957 Ford Intake and a Newer Model Holley Carb, I got the Hot Spots in the exact same place! I also would like to know why it happened??? Do you have an Upgraded Intake and Carb on your 54 Monterey or are yours Stock original???
September 1, 2010 at 8:54 pm in reply to: Need Information on 56 Mercury Bendix Treadle Vac Power Brake System #2565
Archie & Julie Ann DunhamParticipantThanks for the Feedback on the Treadle Vac Brake Booster, I have another question? Could it be the Vacuum Pressure Tank mounted under the car on the frame that is bad because supposedly the Booster had been rebuilt??????
